Special Appeal
This is a special appeal for a woman who survived childbirth but became paralysed after delivery. Eki Ogbeide visited her in December 2007 and leant her a walking wheel, which was borrowed from a family member. Eki would like to have an appeal for her on the ESWA website. Maybe someone will help. Here is her story:

Egbe was born to the family of Late Pa Jackson Inneh June 1975. She is educated to primary school level and later train to gain hairdressing skills. She sets up a hairdressing salon were she worked. She had a partner and gave birth to five children (all boys) ages 14, 12, 8, 6 and 2. She is now a single parent living with her widow-aged mother in her late father’s house.
Present Situation
Egbe gave birth to her fifth son 3rd of January 2005. 7 days later Egbe was taken ill and got paralysed from her waist down. The local general hospital diagnosed her condition to be due to meningitis.
Egbe is unable to neither walk nor manage her salon, which has since closed down. She depend on her mother and her elder sister support to care for herself and her 5 children.
Life is very hard for Egbe and her family. Her entire family are living below poverty level. Egbe would like to contribute if only she can have the opportunity to continue her hairdressing business again.
Her Need
Egbe would like to take up her hairdressing business again if she is supported with the following:
- A wheel chair and other equipment to enable her move around and support her body weight
- Hair dressing equipments (hair dryer, steamer, furniture etc)
- £2,000 (@ 200 Naira to £1 = 400,000 Naira) to refurbished her late father’s house and convert part of the front room to a hairdressing salon.
Her Offer
Egbe would very much like to offer her hairdressing skills to young people in her community. She would take in young people for free training every 2 years. Egbe would also offer her community a much needed hairdressing service.
